Artist Profile

Keith Christie
OatHills

Keith Christie has been drawing and sculpting as long as he can remember. Winning a California state wide Gold Key Award at the age of 15 helped him convince his parents to enroll him in the "Famous Artists School" of Greenwich, Connecticut. This early training encouraged his near obsession for Western Art as well as his desire to become a professional artist. College was a disaster, with him vowing to never paint again if he had to accept the "modern art" being taught. Quitting school, he joined the Marine Corps for three years, married and returned to finish college with a Bachelor of Arts & Master of Arts Degrees. This led to a teaching and administrative job in Northern California, with not a hint of the art career which was soon to follow.

Gradually, in 1966 he began painting and sculpting again as a hobby. Soon, his hobby began earning more than his teaching job. This led to a leave of absence and an art career. In 1997, he celebrated his twenty-fifth year as a full-time professional artist. His oil paintings and bronze sculptures can be found in private and corporate collections as well as art galleries and museums throughout the United Sates and in many foreign countries.
