When she moved to Elbert, Colorado she was inspired by the beautiful landscapes and horses on the surrounding ranches near her home. Combining her ability to capture detail, texture and mood in pencil with her admiration for her equine subjects resulted in a career as a professional artist. Karmel has exhibited her work at the Buffalo Bill Western Art Show, Cody, WY, where she was co-winner of the People's Choice Award in 2004; Peppertree Art Show, Santa Ynez, CA; Phippen Museum Art Show, Prescott, AZ; and the American Academy of Equine Art, Lexington, KY. In 2005, 2006, and 2007 she was People's Choice at the Coors Western Art Exhibit and Sale (at the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo held in Denver, CO). Her work has been published in Southwest Art, Art of the West, Western Art Collector, Western Horseman, Eclectic Horseman and Horses in Art. Karmel's character is fairly modest, so we had to demand that she post this remarkable list of accolades for all to see. We think you would agree that the register is quite impressive, and clear testimony to the distinction and excellence of her work. |
