His grandfather was an avid fisherman and adventurer who would travel the Mississippi, taking the grandkids along for the adventure. Camping on islands, learning about local environments, gathering local plant life, and cleaning and cooking the catch were just a part of the day. This was the beginning of Adam's need to begin capturing what he was seeing and experiencing. Drawing became one of his most treasured pastimes and soon others started to notice his talents. High school art instructors began exposing him to art competitions. He met congressmen, received scholarships, and showed artwork in the capitol building. After high school, Adam went to serve his country in the U.S. Army. He was tasked with painting murals in the motor pool at Ft. Knox, Kentucky. This is where Adam won his first National Art competition with the Colored Pencil Society of America. In 1998 Adam completed a year-long deployment in Korea. He then left the Army to continue his art career. Adam has studied with many well-known professional artists including Jim Wilcox and Quang Ho, as well as self-studied wherever his journeys took him. In 2013 Adam was accepted into his first Museum show, in Lagrange, Georgia. Since that time he has shown in several group shows at Steamboat Art Museum in Colorado, as well as both one man and group shows in galleries. He is an avid plein air painter and enjoys being outside in the natural environment surrounding his home in northwestern Colorado as well as his travels throughout the country. |
